Williamsburg Restaurant Moving to Former Baker’s Crust Site
The Hound's Tale leaving downtown, reopening in Settlers Market early next year

A popular restaurant located in downtown Williamsburg on Prince George Street has confirmed that they will be moving to the former Baker’s Crust site located in Settlers Market off Monticello Avenue. A representative of The Hound’s Tale responded to an email inquiry after an announcement letting customers know of the decision to relocate was posted on their doors.
The owners of the restaurant, Big T RSL, also run several complimentary locations next to The Hounds Tale, including a cafe and retail shop called The Corner Barkery, as well as a private event space called Hound’s Tale Kitchen. All will be consolidated in the new space. The company’s response stated that they hope to have a grand opening early next year. The same company also owns Aromas, a nearby coffee shop, which isn’t part of the relocation.
Speaking about The Hound’s Tale, the representative wrote that the move is motivated in part by the difficulties of operating multiple spaces. “As an organization we are all extremely excited for the relocation and change … moving into this bigger space will allow for us to have all companies under one roof.”

They added that the new space will have a private event space as well as retail space for unique and kitschy items. The flagship restaurant will get upgrades like a bigger bar, better noise control, and more comfortable seating. The email also pointed out that the new location will have “tons of parking”.
According to reporting by the Daily Press, the Hound’s Tale and Corner Barkery were purchased by Big T RSL in 2019 from the original owners. At the time, the company also acquired a nearby coffee shop called Aromas from the same owners.
The Baker’s Crust location in Settlers Market closed in mid-2024. According to their website, the Virginia Beach company still operates locations in the City at Hilltop and Landstown, as well as Norfolk, Chesapeake and Ashburn in Northern Virginia.
