Virginia's intercity bus line breezes into Williamsburg this Spring
Virginia Breeze service will run from Virginia Beach to Harrisonburg, with stops in Richmond, Charlottesville

At a meeting on Thursday, February 12, 2026, the Williamsburg City Council approved an agreement to make Williamsburg a stop on a the Tidewater Current, a new bus route of the Virginia Breeze Bus Line. The new bus line run by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is expected to launch this Spring, connecting Coastal Virginia with the Shenandoah Valley along the I-64 corridor.
The DRPT touts the new service as “one of the most significant expansions of the Virginia Breeze program to date.” Each location will have one stop per day in each direction, including:
Virginia Beach
Norfolk
Newport News
Williamsburg
New Kent
Richmond International Airport
Richmond Main Street Station
Charlottesville
Staunton
Harrisonburg
The Tidewater Current will stop at the Williamsburg Transportation Center on its way through town. The city-owned transportation facility was constructed in 1935 as part of the Rockefeller restoration, and serves as a multi-modal hub on North Boundary Street, a few blocks from Colonial Williamsburg. The initial term of the agreement is for 12-months and includes three automatic renewals and the City has agreed to waive use fees and provide passengers access to building amenities, such as public restrooms and a vending area.

According to information posted by the DRPT, the intercity Virginia Breeze began operations in 2017 to provide affordable transportation between Virginia regions, as well as Washington, D.C. The website for the Virginia Breeze allows customers to book tickets ranging from $15 to $60, and track the locations of buses, which each offer free Wi-Fi, power outlets, restrooms, and baggage storage.
