Virginia Seeks Public Input for New Statewide Tourism Strategic Plan

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) has announced the development of a new Statewide Strategic Tourism Plan to guide the Commonwealth’s tourism initiatives from 2025 through 2028. As part of the planning process, a stakeholder engagement survey is now open to collect input from tourism professionals, business owners, community organizations, and other interested parties.
The plan will focus on supporting tourism growth across Virginia’s ten tourism regions, with goals that include enhancing visitor experiences, encouraging longer stays, and identifying opportunities for destination development. The survey is intended to gather information about regional priorities, challenges, and ideas that can help shape the plan’s recommendations.
VTC has selected Hunden Partners, a national consulting firm specializing in tourism and destination planning, to lead the development of the plan. The project will include stakeholder interviews, regional meetings, and a review of existing tourism assets using Hunden’s data-driven assessment tools.
“This process provides an opportunity to evaluate current tourism strategies and gather feedback that can help inform future direction,” said VTC President and CEO Rita McClenny. “Input from stakeholders across the state will play an important role in the plan’s development.”
The final strategic plan is expected to be released at the 2025 VA-1 Tourism Summit. VTC encourages stakeholders from all regions of the state to complete the survey and contribute to the planning process.
