Williamsburg proudly touts itself as the “Pancake Capital of the World” and a local tourism group is launching a month-long series of events and promotions to celebrate National Pancake Day on September 26. Visit Williamsburg, a regional group that also promotes visits to Yorktown and Jamestown, recently announced the launch of its first Pancake Trail and Festival, which will culminate with a competitive pancake eating contest.
The promotion features a free mobile Pancake Trail Pass, offering users the chance to “check in” at participating restaurants in the Historic Triangle area. The app will allow pancake trailblazers earn points and redeem pancake-themed prizes. The app will also include exclusive discounts on lodging, shopping, and attractions.
“Leading tourism destinations serve up great experiences — and the new Pancake Trail and Festival provide the perfect recipe,” wrote Edward Harris, CEO of Visit Williamsburg, in an email. “The new mobile pass and event will attract visitors, support our unique small businesses, and give our tourism economy a boost in September.”
More details — including prize announcements and the full lineup of participating businesses — will be revealed as September approaches.
